Title

USE OF CHATGPT IN PEDIATRIC UROLOGY AND ITS RELEVANCE IN CLINICAL PRACTICE: IS IT USEFUL?

Introduction and objective

The Chat-Generative Pre-Trained Transformer (ChatGPT) is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool that has gained notoriety. Due to the popularity and media diffusion, the incorrect and misleading statements provided by ChatGPT could have a great impact in the health professional decision making. The objective of this study is to assess the ChatGPT reliability regarding some enuresis questions.

Method

ChatGPT 3.5 version was used. Three questions were made: 1) “What is the short definition of Enuresis?”; 2) “How to diagnose Enuresis?”; 3) “How to treat Enuresis?”. The queries were inserted into ChatGPT twice, and both responses were recorded to examine the reproducibility of ChatGPT’s answers. The two ChatGPT responses were combined in a single answer which was evaluated qualitatively by three experts in the field.

Results

Generally, the answers were broad and not very specific. The ChatGPT definition of enuresis was partially correct, as it included daytime incontinence in this. Concerning the diagnosis, crucial aspects of the anamnesis were omitted, including the evaluation of daytime urinary symptoms, and psychological abnormalities. Furthermore, it was not mentioned the necessity of an evaluation of the lumbosacral region, which is essential. In addition, unnecessary complementary exams were requested. Regarding the treatment, it suggests some ineffective, such as bladder training. The information about the alarm and medication for enuresis was scarce, not being possible to make any decision based on ChatGPT’s answer.

Conclusion

Generally, ChatGPT responses presented some reliable and relevant information regarding enuresis, however many of them were incomplete, ambiguous and with misleading details.

Area
